Ryan Arey is originally from Peebles, Ohio. Now he is a writer and film maker living in New York City. He has contributed work to Good Morning America, Channel 101, the Iron Mule Film Festival, 48-Hour Go Green Festival, Young Cuts Film Fest, and the Garden State Film Festival, among many others.
His work as a director and editor has won several awards, including the Audience Choice Award at the Iron Mule Film Festival, Judge's Selection Award at the Punch! Film Festival, and Best Film at the 48-Hour Go Green Festival.
He has also written and directed three feature-length documentaries: Stewards of the Earth, We Are the Indians, and We Know. He is currently co-producing and editingtwo more feature length documentaries, Blue Like Me and All We are Saying.
For the past nine years he has directed the film department at French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts, where he oversees the production of more than 90 short films and 150 live events every summer.
He currently writes a blog, I'm From Peebles, celebrating America's funniest hometown.
One time, while he was doing standup, a heckler punched him in the face.
